Visia Lab Breaks Ground on New Headquarters: Cornerstone Laid in Via Concetto Marchesi, San Giovanni Valdarno

San Giovanni Valdarno, Friday, June 20, 2025 – The cornerstone laying ceremony for Visia Lab’s new headquarters took place today, attended by local authorities and representatives from the surrounding area.

The event marks the official start of construction on the new facility, which will rise in the area of the former municipal slaughterhouse in San Giovanni Valdarno. This represents a strategic step for the company’s growth and a strengthening of its presence in the region.

"The laying of the cornerstone for Visia Lab’s new facility in San Giovanni Valdarno," commented Mayor Valentina Vadi, "is a very important moment for the entire local community. It strengthens the technological hub in the southern part of the city and, above all, solidifies Visia Lab’s investment in our area. San Giovanni Valdarno now boasts two key industrial areas: to the north, the ABB plant specializing in electric vehicle charging stations; to the south, Visia TopCon and Visia Lab, both leaders in ophthalmology and clinical diagnostics equipment. This is a significant achievement, the result of close collaboration between the municipal administration and local industries. In this context, the redevelopment of the former public area that housed the long-abandoned municipal slaughterhouse is particularly meaningful. Sold via public auction, it has now been acquired by Visia Lab. An entire area will be revitalized after years of disuse and neglect. With the start of construction on the new facility, major employment opportunities will also open up for the city. San Giovanni is increasingly positioning itself as a high-value hi-tech hub, with a strong focus on environmental sustainability, thanks to the synergy between the northern and southern poles. A heartfelt thank you goes to Visia Lab, Visia TopCon, and especially Alessandro Foggi, who continues to believe in our city and invest concretely in its future."

Also attending the ceremony were Daniele Gualdani, CEO of LEM Industries and President of the Valdarno Area Group of Confindustria Toscana Sud; Luca Bernardini, CEO of Baraclit; Giovanni Verniani, Construction Director; Massimo Donnini, President and CEO of Visia Lab; and Alessandro Foggi, Founder and Majority Shareholder of Visia Lab.

The new headquarters will cover a surface of 1,872 square meters and will be built following principles of sustainability and innovation, incorporating solar energy and surrounded by green areas.

The project is designed by Errevuelle Architetti Associati, in collaboration with Baraclit, the general contractor. Construction is expected to be completed by spring 2026, with the company moving into the new facility by the end of the same year.

With this investment, Visia Lab aims to strengthen its bond with the local area and attract new talent, in line with its vision of sustainable development and continuous innovation.
